Cinque Terre, Italy
For 3 days and 2 nights I was sent on a field program to Cinque Terre, Italy for Semester at Sea. Our hostel was in an amazing little town called Porto Venere. Chelsea and I spent the first night walking around town, hiking up to higher vantage points and watching the sun set over the sea. We woke up for sunrise the next morning and followed our noses to the pastry shop for morning breakfast and cappuccino. We then took a ferry with all the students to the 5 towns of Cinque Terre. The towns were all gorgeous with their brightly colored walls, narrow streets, and endless amounts of stairs! After photographing these amazing landscapes and eating enough gelato for the next year we headed back to Porto Venere. There, we went swimming in the ocean while watching the sunset. The next morning we set out to Palmaria island for a hike with all the students. It was nice to exert some energy after spending the last few days eating homemade pastas, fish, mussels, pastries, and gelato! The hike was about 4.5 miles, went through a military camp and ended at the top of the island with a view of Porto Venere. After the island we jumped on a bus to get back to the floating campus, MV World Odyssey!
